THE HOUNDRA: AN ARTIST’S DECLARATION

This is Zion Designs' artist mark—my declaration that I create with conviction, operate with care, and stand behind every piece I make.

The Houndra fuses hound and hydra, embodying the values that drive my work: resilience that shows up daily, strength that doesn't need to be loud, and determination expressed through patient, observant practice. With three heads, it faces challenges from all directions—not through force, but through adaptability and unwavering presence.

The design honors both Art Deco's architectural precision and Art Nouveau's organic flow—structure and softness working together. The black, gold, and almond palette reflects the Hovawart breed that inspired this brand: power, sophistication, and nobility expressed through calm confidence.

Every setback becomes an opportunity. Every challenge strengthens resolve. This mark represents the mindset that fuels my work: tenacious but never rushed, strong but never harsh, forward-moving but always present.

WHY “ZION DESIGNS?”

Every brand has an origin story. Mine begins with a Hovawart named Zion.

He was my first subject. The companion I photographed more than anyone else. The reason I discovered that patience and observation create more powerful images than any amount of posing or direction ever could.

Named after Zion National Park—a place where grandeur meets tranquility—he taught me that presence is more valuable than performance. That the best moments reveal themselves when you're willing to wait. That deep familiarity allows you to see what others miss.

Years of photographing him became my technical training ground—learning to work with a Hovawart's speed and stillness, to read canine body language, to anticipate moments before they happen. Every skill I bring to client sessions was refined through thousands of patient images with him.

That foundation shows up in every pet session I photograph today. When I work with a client's companion, I'm drawing on years of understanding temperament, energy, and the subtle cues that signal a perfect moment. When I talk about animal-led sessions, I mean it—Zion taught me that the most authentic images come from honoring a subject's natural rhythm, not imposing my own timeline.

He remains central to how I operate. He's in the studio during editing, accompanies me on location scouts, and grounds me when sessions get challenging. His presence is a constant reminder that the best work comes from patience, not pressure.

This brand carries his name because he gave it purpose. Every session honors what he taught me: that genuine connection creates images that endure.

WHAT DRIVES THE WORK

Zion Designs creates work that holds up over time.

Whether I'm creating fine art, photographing companions, or documenting events, the approach remains consistent:

  • Observation over interruption

  • Clarity over excess

  • Presence over performance

Every project is treated as a collaboration—built on trust, guided by intention, and rooted in respect for the subject at hand.

This is work that feels considered and human. Work that reflects the environments we inhabit, the communities we build, and the stories worth preserving.

A promise to move deliberately, to operate with integrity, and to create pieces that carry meaning long after the moment has passed.
